XIA, also known as Kim Junsu of JYJ, is back with their fourth studio album – “Xignature” – showing her passion and determination to produce high quality music that stays true to her unique style. The album contains 13 tracks that feature everything from powerful ballads to high-energy dance music that showcases XIA’s musical skill and range.
The first title song from her fourth studio album is “Rock the World,” a hip-hop inspired dance floor that includes Automatic, who also worked with XIA on his album “Incredible”, and rapper The Quiett. The song focuses on the vibrant energy of the stage and, through XIA’s lyrics, expresses a dynamic atmosphere that guarantees a unique performance from Junsu, for whom he is known for his performances.
The second main song is “Sweet Melody”, which features the sweet voice of singer Ben. XIA also wrote the lyrics to “Sweet Melody”, describing how it feels in front of the person he loves, nervous and shy, but wanting to confess and give everything to that person.
Before XIA embarked on their concert tour, Soompi was able to catch up with the artist for a short interview in which he discussed his new album and his musical tastes, showing his pride for the album.
If you had to pick one, what is your favorite track from your fourth studio album, “Xignature”?
It’s hard to pick just one, so I’ll say the title song “Rock the World” and the second title song from this album, “Sweet Melody”. Specifically for “Sweet Melody” the quality of the song is high and you can hear how well my voice is balanced with that of lead singer Ben’s. The beautiful melody of the song corresponds well to summer time.

You are able to pull off both dance floors and ballads, but is there a genre you prefer?
In fact, I don’t have a preference. I think there are different charms for the two genres. When it comes to dance music, it’s always the best way to communicate with fans by giving a performance. For ballads, they are able to deliver sensitive emotions.
Are there any musical genres that you would like to challenge, such as Jazz or Blues?
Although these are not traditional jazz genre songs, there are two jazzy ballad tracks in my new album. I really enjoyed recording them because I felt the appeal of the genre and its characteristics. I haven’t tried the Blues genre yet, as you know, but I would love to try it someday for sure.
What’s the best way to cheer yourself up when you’re depressed?
Delicious food! (laughs) When I’m feeling down or a little down, I think enjoying my favorite foods is the best way to refresh myself. It’s my secret healing time.
What can we expect from you in the near future?
After this album was released on May 30, I hosted a live presentation to reach out and communicate closely with fans. I will soon be embarking on a concert tour of Asia, starting in Seoul on June 11-12, then heading to Nagoya, Kobe, Tokyo, etc.
