Musical group to announce the holidays



BIG RAPIDS – The Con Brio Voce Brass Quintet and the Mallet Force Percussion Ensemble will officially kick off the holidays with a free concert next month.

The concert is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. on December 5 in the Big Rapids High School auditorium.

Featuring holiday classics such as music from the Charlie Brown Christmas Special and artists such as Al Jarreau and Mannheim Steamroller, each group will perform individually and also combine in multiple arrangements.

Mallet Force founder and director Ron Rizzo promises audience-friendly music to kick off the Christmas season.

“We will be using a large number of various percussion instruments, but we still maintain a melodic essence in each piece through the use of various keyboard percussion instruments such as bells, chimes, xylophone, vibraphone and marimba,” said Rizzo. the brass ensemble adds greatly to the musical color and texture of familiar Christmas music.
